TAG decisions

Students who submit a Âé¶¹appÈë¿Ú Transfer Admission Guarantee, known as TAG, can access their decisions and information online. They may login to , or  TAP, on or after Nov. 15. Counselors can access their students’ TAG decisions directly through the TAG review form, available in Student Lookup, myTAGs or UC TAG site reports.

My UC Davis TAG was approved...

  • Will my counselor have access to my Âé¶¹appÈë¿Ú TAG decision?
  • Yes — authorized counselors at your community college can access to view your Âé¶¹appÈë¿Ú TAG decision.
  • How do I make corrections to the personal information on my TAG, e.g. name, email, mailing address or phone number?
  • Go to the My Information section of your and make the appropriate updates to your personal information. Make the same corrections to your as well.
  • Do I still need to apply to Âé¶¹appÈë¿Ú during the Oct. 1-Nov. 30 application submission period?
  • Yes. Your TAG contract stipulates that you must submit the by the posted final deadline. Remember, you can import your academic information directly from your UC TAP into the UC application. 

    Provide your current course schedule and tentative spring schedule, when you complete the UC application. Notify Âé¶¹appÈë¿Ú and any other UC campuses about coursework changes and grades in January using .   • I submitted my TAG but since then I dropped a class, adjusted my course schedule, learned that planned courses won’t be offered or enrolled at another California Community College, or CCC. Will these changes affect my Âé¶¹appÈë¿Ú TAG? How do I notify Âé¶¹appÈë¿Ú?
  • Review your Âé¶¹appÈë¿Ú TAG Decision Form carefully — the terms of your TAG require that you complete the coursework specified in your contract. Failure to meet these terms jeopardizes your admission guarantee. 

    If your college will not offer a course required by your TAG contract, plan to complete the course at another CCC. Visit the to ensure that any courses taken satisfies your TAG requirements. 

    If you are attending a CCC different than the one you attended when your TAG was submitted, visit to ensure that courses at your new school satisfy your TAG requirements and make certain that you do not duplicate coursework.
  • I expect to receive a grade or grades less than C in my course or courses. What should I do, and how will this impact my TAG?
  • Review your Âé¶¹appÈë¿Ú TAG Decision Form carefully — the terms of your TAG require that you complete the coursework specified in your contract with grades of C or higher. Failure to meet these terms jeopardizes your admission guarantee. 

    When you complete the UC application, provide your current course schedule. In January, use the to update your grades and coursework. Ensure that Âé¶¹appÈë¿Ú and any other UC campuses obtain your most current academic information.   • Can I apply to a major different from the one that my TAG was written for?
  • No — your TAG is a guarantee of admission to the major specified in your contract. If you apply to a different major than the one listed on your Âé¶¹appÈë¿Ú TAG Decision Form, you may lose your guarantee of admission. 

    Students with a TAG in marine and coastal science are cautioned to carefully select the correct major and college on the UC application that matches their approved TAG.
  • Some of the information requested on the UC application was already provided on my TAG application — do I need to fill in these sections? How important is it for me to complete the personal insight questions?
  • Yes — you must thoroughly complete the UC application, so that it accurately reflects the information shown on your . Import academic information directly from your UC TAP into the UC application. Report each college or university at which you were previously or are currently enrolled or in attendance, this includes . It is also very important that you complete the personal insight questions. Remember, the UC application is also your scholarship application to our campus.
  • I left out some information when I submitted my Âé¶¹appÈë¿Ú TAG — can I make corrections on the UC application?
  • Yes, you can make corrections on the UC application. Provide your current information on the UC application and use the comment field to explain any discrepancies between information on your TAG and the UC application. 

    In January, use the to update your grades and coursework. Ensure that Âé¶¹appÈë¿Ú and any other UC campuses obtain your most current academic information.   • I want to complete some of my required coursework during the summer, but did not indicate that on my TAG. Can I enroll in classes during the summer without jeopardizing my TAG?
  • No — the terms of your TAG require that you complete the coursework with the specified grades in your contract by the indicated terms. Failure to meet these terms will jeopardize your admission guarantee. You may take additional coursework during the summer, but you may not use the summer term to complete courses or transferable units required for the Âé¶¹appÈë¿Ú TAG.
  • Is the Âé¶¹appÈë¿Ú TAG really a guarantee of my admission?
  • Yes! Your approved Âé¶¹appÈë¿Ú TAG guarantees that you are admitted to Âé¶¹appÈë¿Ú in the major and for the term specified by your contract. This is provided that you meet the terms of our agreement and submit your during the application submission period. Your Âé¶¹appÈë¿Ú TAG Decision Form specifies the terms of our agreement and the steps you must take to assure your guarantee.

My UC Davis TAG was not approved...

  • Can I appeal my TAG decision?
  • No — all TAG decisions are final and appeals are not considered. However, you may still hold strong potential for regular admission to Âé¶¹appÈë¿Ú without the guaranteed pathway a TAG offers. 

    We encourage you to work with your community college counselor to review your situation and to determine whether you should file the for the upcoming fall cycle or for a future term.
  • I believe that there has been a mistake regarding my TAG decision. What should I do?
  • We encourage you to apply to Âé¶¹appÈë¿Ú for the upcoming regular fall admission cycle or for a future term. Submit your UC application during the application submission period — use the comment field to tell us why you think a mistake was made. 

    Âé¶¹appÈë¿Ú gives every application a thorough review and evaluation. Although all TAG decisions are final and appeals are not considered, you may still be eligible and competitive for admission to Âé¶¹appÈë¿Ú through the regular application process.
  • What if I don't understand the reason that my TAG was denied?
  • Review the Âé¶¹appÈë¿Ú TAG requirements then visit your community college counselor to discuss your circumstances. Your counselor may advise you to file the for the upcoming fall admission cycle or for a future term.
  • Am I eligible to apply for fall admission to Âé¶¹appÈë¿Ú without a TAG?
  • We encourage you to visit your community college counselor to review your circumstances and determine whether you should apply for the upcoming regular fall admission cycle or for a future term.
  • Can I submit a Âé¶¹appÈë¿Ú TAG for a future term? What happens to the TAG information I already submitted?
  • Absolutely! We encourage you to submit a TAG for admission next fall or later. Use the upcoming year to discuss your academic plan with your community college counselor continue to complete coursework toward your Âé¶¹appÈë¿Ú major and meet the academic requirements for a Âé¶¹appÈë¿Ú TAG. 

    Log in to the , or TAP, to update your TAG application for a future term. Make any necessary changes and fill out the term for your future TAG. Return to your TAP and make appropriate changes to your personal information, coursework and grades, as information changes between now and the TAG filing period in September.
  • Will Âé¶¹appÈë¿Ú TAG criteria change next year?
  • Âé¶¹appÈë¿Ú TAG criteria changes annually and new criteria are available in mid-May. We encourage you to meet regularly with your community college counselor and visit our TAG FAQ for students to stay ahead of any changes.
