Âé¶¹appÈë¿Ú Transfer Admission Guarantee requirements 

The Âé¶¹appÈë¿Ú Transfer Admission Guarantee, known as TAG, is a written agreement that guarantees admission to Âé¶¹appÈë¿Ú in a specific major from any California Community College, or CCC.

All majors except Computer Science and Data Science are open to TAG. Students interested in these majors must apply through the UC application (open October through November) and meet selective major requirements.

Transfer students may apply to the business major during the 2026 application cycle for fall 2027 enrollment.Check for specific major requirements. Note, TAG is not available for the business major.

Pass or Credit grades are only allowed in lieu of letter grades for coursework in winter, spring and summer 2020 terms. Refer to the additional selective major TAG requirements in the corresponding areas below.


Apply for a TAG

  1. Use the , known as TAP, to start your TAG application.
  2. Review it with your
  3. Submit the TAG application by Sept. 30 via UC TAP.
  4. Review your TAG decision after mid-November.
  5. Submit the by the Nov. 30 deadline. Ensure the major is the same in BOTH your TAG application and the regular UC Transfer application.

  7. Fulfill all remaining coursework and GPA requirements as outlined in your TAG agreement.

TAG conditions 

Enrollment

  • Plan to complete 30 UC-transferable semester-units (45 UC-transferable quarter-units) at one or more CCC's by the time you apply for TAG.
  • Ensure the last college you attended in a regular session is a CCC.
  • Complete no more than 19 UC-transferable units (semester or quarter) in spring 2026 or last term prior to reaching junior standing.


Units

Complete by end of summer 2025:

  • Minimum 30 UC-transferable semester-units (45 UC-transferable quarter-units)

Complete by the end of spring term prior to transfer:

  • Minimum 60 UC-transferable semester-units (90 UC-transferable quarter-units)
  • Minimum 30 UC-transferable semester-units (45 UC-transferable quarter-units) of overall units must be from a CCC


UC-transferable course GPA

Complete by end of summer 2025:

  • Earn at least a 3.20 GPA for all majors in the College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences, the College of Biological Sciences and the College of Letters and Science.
  • Earn at least a 3.50 GPA for all majors in the College of Engineering.

Additional GPA requirements:

  • Meet any additional GPA requirements for selective major courses in current fall term with no grade lower than a C in all UC transferable course work.


UCE, UCM and 7-course pattern

  • Complete minimum two English composition courses, or UCE. Complete at least one UC-E by the end of fall. The second UC-E may be in progress for spring prior to transfer.
  • Complete mathematical concepts and quantitative reasoning course, or UCM, by end of fall.

Complete by the end of spring term prior to transfer, four courses from at least two of the subject areas that follow:

  • Arts and Humanities, or UCH
  • Social and Behavioral Sciences, or UCB
  • Physical and Biological Sciences, or UCS

Eligibility restrictions 

You are not eligible for TAG, if you:

  • are enrolled in high school at the time of TAG submission
  • earned a bachelor, graduate or professional degree
  • were previously enrolled at a UC campus and left not in good standing
  • were at Âé¶¹appÈë¿Ú during a regular term (this excludes summer)

Selective major course requirements

Certain majors are considered selective and have additional requirements for all applicants. TAG requirements may exceed these selective major course requirements—both selective major and TAG requirements must be satisfied. You must complete selective major course requirements as outlined by the end of spring term prior to transfer. You must achieve and maintain minimum required GPAs for courses in the groups or series below that have been completed at the time of application.


Important information 

Report all coursework, including international coursework, on the TAG and UC application, regardless if it is considered transferable or if you do not want any credit.

Lower division unit limitations 

Students who attended any colleges or universities other than a CCC must hold fewer than 80 UC-transferable semester units (or 120 quarter units) overall, after they apply UC lower-division unit limitations and exclusions, to be eligible for a TAG. , for more information.
