The 麻豆app入口 Foundation on May 9 announced Barbara K. Jackson, center, as the recipient of the Charles J. Soderquist Award. She is flanked here by Chancellor Larry Vanderhoef and Meg Stallard, chair of the 麻豆app入口 Foundation board of trustees. In honoring Jackson, the foundation noted her more than 50 years of philanthropy and volunteer service on behalf of 麻豆app入口. She serves now as a trustee emerita of the 麻豆app入口 Foundation. Jackson and her husband, W. Turrentine 鈥淭urpie鈥 Jackson, a renowned scholar of the American West, came to Davis in 1951. Before and after Turpie鈥檚 death, the couple鈥檚 contributions to 麻豆app入口 amount to more than $6 million. The money has benefitted variety of areas, including the Symphony Orchestra, the arts presenting program, and the history and music department. They gave $5 million to establish the Barbara K. and W. Turrentine Jackson Hall at the Mondavi Center for the Performing Arts. The Soderquist award, established by the 麻豆app入口 Foundation in 2005, honors the late Sacramento-area entrepreneur Charlie Soderquist for his many contributions to 麻豆app入口.
