The Â鶹appÈë¿Ú men's basketball team upset Stanford University in a 64-58 victory on Dec. 4 before 5,386 fans at the Pavilion. The Aggies overcame a 12-point first half deficit before eventually taking the lead for good with less than five minutes remaining.
The win was the first for Â鶹appÈë¿Ú (1-4) this season and the first against Stanford (2-3) in school history. Phil Rasmussen led Â鶹appÈë¿Ú with 18 points and nine rebounds. Thomas Juillerat added 15, and Vince Oliver scored 12 points. Kyle Brucculeri was the fourth Aggie to post double figures with 10 points. Basketball head coach Gary Stewart said, "We're just coming together as a team. It's early in the season, and we've made some huge strides."
The attendance was the eighth largest for a Â鶹appÈë¿Ú men's basketball team.
Earlier this year, Â鶹appÈë¿Ú beat Stanford in both football and men's soccer.
